Security & Safety
Last updated October 7, 2026
classicfreemarket.com is built to keep your account and your trades safe. This page explains how we protect your data and what you can do to trade safely with other players.
1. How we protect your account
- Passwords are never stored in plain text. They are hashed and encrypted by our authentication provider, so nobody — including us — can ever see your password.
- All traffic between your browser and classicfreemarket.com is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS.
- Your email address, if you provide one, is stored securely and is only ever used for password reset. We never send marketing emails and never share it with other players.
- Your in-game name (IGN) stays private until a seller accepts your offer or a trade is agreed — it is never shown publicly.
- Every database request is checked against row-level security rules, so users can only read and change the data they are allowed to.
2. Trade safely
- Always complete trades through the site's sale flow: the seller proposes the sale and the buyer confirms the actual price paid. Confirmed trades build both players' reputation and protect you in disputes.
- Check a seller's rating, review count and completed trades before sending any items or mesos in game.
- Never share your password, account email, or in-game account details with anyone — including people claiming to be staff. We will never ask for your password.
- Be wary of deals that pressure you to move off-platform or pay through unusual methods. If it feels rushed or too good to be true, walk away.
3. Fraud prevention
- New accounts have posting limits for their first 24 hours, and every account is limited to 10 active listings and 10 open buy offers.
- Price history only counts trades that the buyer confirmed, so fake sales can't inflate prices. Extreme outlier prices are excluded from statistics.
- Reviews are only possible after a confirmed trade, which makes fake reputation much harder to build.
4. Report a problem
- If you spot a scam, a suspicious listing, or a security issue, use the Report a bug option in the account menu or contact us through the Contact page. Reports go directly to the site admin.
- If you believe your account has been compromised, reset your password immediately using the Forgot password link, then contact us.
